Production Notes

These sketches are from a 1997 production of THE TRIUMPH OF LOVE, an 18th cross-dressing romance by Marivaux with roots in the commedia dell'arte. It was presented at Actors Theatre of Louisville, directed by Jon Jory, sets by John Conklin, lights by Amy Appleyard. The costumes are also based on the commedia traditions, but reworked and abstracted. The silhouettes are influenced by those of the 18th C, but mixed with those of the 20thC with intensified use of color.
